Become a Volunteer
MYDF welcomes all volunteers from around the globe to experience the life-changing power of MYDF in Kasempa. Our volunteers are in two categories; Local Volunteers and Global Volunteers. Whatever your skills, and whatever your reasons for volunteering, you can join our team;
MYDF volunteers are not required to pay any program fees, but are responsible for upkeep (accommodation, meals and travel expenses) while at the project. We can help you make estimates of possible expenditure (and this depends on how long you intend to stay at the project).
Accommodation
Once you have been invited to come and volunteer with MYDF, a quotation for your accommodation will be sent to you in order for you to be fully prepared and upon receiving the quotation, you can send the money in order for us to book for you in advance. This is only applicable to the on-site volunteers. Those willing to be placed in the village’s accommodation will be arranged by MYDF for free.
Global Volunteers
Global volunteers can either choose to contribute as on-site volunteers in Kasempa or as remote volunteers from their home country.
MYDF volunteers come from diverse backgrounds and have included college students looking to gain more community experience in a rural setting and experienced professionals hoping to better understand project design and implementation in developing countries. Fill out our volunteer application form to receive more information and learn how you can contribute to MYDF.
On-site Volunteers
Volunteers are admitted on a rolling basis and are welcome to apply at any time.
As a volunteer, you decide how long you would like to stay. Our on-site global volunteers come as individuals or in groups to Kasempa District, Zambia.
Online Volunteers
Online volunteers work from their home country and are as valuable to fulfilling the MYDF mission as our on-site volunteers.
These volunteers take advantage of access to a wealth of resources and communication tools made available online to help MYDF with fundraising campaigns, grant research and applications, proposal design and advocacy.
Many of our online volunteers have proposed programs that we could not have developed on our own, but have since been implemented by on-the-ground local volunteer members.
Similar to our on-site volunteers, online volunteers are admitted on a rolling basis and are welcome to apply at any time. As a online volunteer, we’ll try to match our needs with your interests, skills and availability.
We just ask that you provide us with periodic updates on the projects you decide to pursue. MYDF will accommodate your schedule to maximize your learning and contribution to the project during your volunteer experience. To learn more about how you can contribute as a online volunteer, please download and fill out our volunteer application form.
